Belval Plaz'ART - Invitation to the event's finissage on Thursday 6 June 5-9pm!

Belval Plaz'ART
An exceptional event dedicated to art at the Belval Plaza Shopping Centre in Esch-Belval.
From 26 April to 6 June 2019.

Belval Plaz'ART is an artistic event initiated by Belval Plaza and implemented by Art Work Circle, Luxembourg's online platform for selling and renting works of art and promoting Luxembourg artists. The event will run from this Friday 26 April at 10am, until 6 June 2019 inclusive. The exhibition spaces will be spread across the entire Belval Plaza site in Esch-sur-Alzette.

Exhibitions in shops

Belval Plaza wants to welcome art in a variety of forms, breaking away from the more traditional patterns and, through the works on display, offering an artistic immersion to a wide audience, triggering encounters and surprising people. In addition to enhancing the appeal of the shopping centre, Belval Plaza aims to provide a new platform for visibility for Luxembourg artists.

Art Work Circle has taken over shop windows to display original, high-quality works of art, allowing visitors to the site to be surprised by the art as they stroll along.

On both floors, you can discover works by Ben Carter, Frank Jons, Rom Lammar, Sandra Lieners, Chantal Maquet, Armand Strainchamps, Dany Prum, Marc Wagner or even Christian Wilmes.

The art trail is completed by a showroom set up in a vacant commercial unit. Just over 30 works are on show there during the shopping centre's opening hours, creating an exhibition in an unexpected location for contemporary art.

All the works on display, both in the showcases and in the showroom, are also available for sale. To this end, visitors can simply scan a QR code placed near the works and easily access the Art Work Circle online sales platform. You'll find a list of the works on display at the bottom of this page.

Guest artists

In addition to these exhibitions, specific projects are being carried out with guest artists. Three large-scale murals will be painted directly on the walls of Belval Plaza by street artists. They are the work of Daniel Mac Lloyd, Stick and Sader who will come and paint their work before the eyes of Belval Plaza customers.

Two installations designed by Luxembourg artists are also on the programme. Steve Gerges is producing an interactive installation called "Fields", which uses a webcam to film the movements of visitors and reproduce them on a screen. The multimedia installation Immunecraft d'Eric Schockmel offers an exceptional sensory experience, an immersive journey into a world that combines biology, scientific experimentation and technology.

A workshop

Finally, a creative and educational workshop entitled "Initiation Graffiti" is being offered on Saturday 18 May by the street artist Sader. Everyone, and young people in particular, are invited to take part in the creation of a unique, collective and original work on a wall around ten metres long. The results of this workshop will remain visible until the end of the event.

To guide visitors, a creative graphic design project is being carried out by Aurélien Bernard aka " Brshrmx ". Using the Belval Plaza logo as a starting point, he twisted the codes to link the various exhibition spaces together and create an original itinerary.
