Pedro Fragoso
Pedro Fragoso, visual artist, was born in 1985 in Santiago do Cacém, in the Alentejo region of Portugal.
While studying sculpture as part of the visual arts programme at the University of Évora's School of Arts, he developed a passion for architecture, or the architecture of 'things'.
A self-taught drummer from an early age, rhythm is an impetus in the dialogue between line and colour, which is also inspired by his experience of graffiti.
His creative process is based on the abstraction between urban expression and bucolic landscape, painting and drawing live in a symbiotic relationship between the inner being and the body of the world.
His work has developed in the direction of creating places where the interior and exterior open up the space so that the structures plunge into an expanding organic universe, which in turn tears itself apart on different levels.
These dichotomous links create a kind of breathing journey, of simultaneous inhalation and exhalation, where you can feel a certain psychedelia.
In the end, the landscape is always about us, about trying to control the uncontrolled and the controlled.
